- Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started vehicle and found smoke from exhaust on start up- vehicle has no catalytic converters smoke is black in color due to un burnt fuel. Step 2. Inspected under hood and found multiple active oil leaks from valve cover gaskets and engine oil pan causing oil to burn on exhaust and smoke. Correction – Recommend repair oil leaks, perform oil restoration service, perform top end induction service and check at 1,000 miles for oil consumption concern prior to further repairs. Valve guide seals may need replacement and can not be determined until oil leaks repairs are done..
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
- Recommend replace spark plugs with wires and perform top end induction service.
- Removed and replaced valve cover gaskets.
- Add Engine Performance Restoration Additive To Engine Oil. Ran vehicle @1200 RPM for 20 Minutes. Drained engine oil. Removed and replaced engine oil filter Refilled engine oil, and added BG MOA additive to the engine oil.
- removed and replaced oil pan gasket with oil pickup tube seal.
- HazMat EPA #CAL000339001
- Cleaned the throttle body. Cleaned gum and soft carbon deposits from air intake, valves and combustion chamber using BG Platinum air induction cleaner. Added BG 44K fuel system additive to fuel tank. Road tested vehicle to clean out residual air induction cleaner. Checked for and cleared any possible fault codes that may have been set during service. Performed idle speed relearn procedure as applicable.
- Cleaned engine- due to years of multiple oil leaks oil is burnt to engine in some areas and can not be fully cleaned.
- Removed and replaced spark plugs with wires. Repaired threads for cylinder six spark plug.
