- Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started the vehicle and verified the check engine light is currently on. Step 2. Scanned the vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes. Found powertrain control module code P0420 (Catalyst system efficiency below threshold). Step 3. Using a scan tool checked fuel control system. Fuel control system is operating as designed. Step 4. Checked misfire historical data. There are no current or history misfires present. Step 5. Monitored downstream oxygen sensor switching rate. Verified the downstream oxygen sensor switch rate is excessive indicating low catalyst efficiency. Correction – Recommend replacement of catalytic converter assembly and retest. Recommend replacement of spark plugs (preventive maintenance) and performing a fuel system/ air induction service (preventive maintenance).
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
- Removed and replaced Front Catalytic Converter assembly.
- Removed and replaced cabin air filter. Disinfected and deodorized the interior A/C vents using BG frigi-fresh vent disinfectant and deodorizer.
- Performed four wheel alignment adjustment, alignment all within specifications.
