- (continued from above) The vehicle would not crank. Customer was able to jump start the vehicle but it would only stay running with the jumper cables connected. The vehicle was towed in. Check and advise Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Tried starting vehicle and found battery discharged and wont start. Hood wont stay open due to worn hood supports. Step 2. Jump started vehicle, vehicle starts and runs, no warning lights on at this time. After removing jump box vehicle turns off. Step 3. Charged battery, performed charging system test and found alternator not charging. Step 4. Inspected vehicle and found alternator appears to have been replaced, belt is worn and has multiple cracks. Correction – Recommend replacing alternator with belt. Recommend replacing hood supports
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
- ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY – Remove & Replace – [DOES NOT include Air Conditioning System recover, evacuate and recharge.] – [Includes: Test.]
- Recover A/C system (amount recovered: ). Evacuate A/C system for 45 minutes. Test for leaks prior to recharging system. Recharge A/C system with R-134A refrigerant. Add leak detection dye to the system. Run the A/C system to circulate the leak detection dye and check for leaks. Test system performance.
