- Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started vehicle and verified check engine light is on, performed code scan and found P0303 cylinder 3 misfire. No faults were found with transmission or traction control modules. Step 2. Removed spark plugs and found spark plugs extremely worn and oil fouled, also incorrect type has been installed. Spark plugs were recommended at 91,743 miles in 2020- see invoice 29354, only ignition coils were replaced. Step 3. Inspected vehicle and found oil low and past due for service, also engine air filter is extremely dirty. Correction – Recommend replacing spark plugs, perform induction service, replace air filter and recheck.
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
- Removed and replaced spark plugs, moved cylinder 3 coil to cylinder 1, started vehicle and misfire still present. Performed code scan and found P0301 cylinder 1 misfire. Removed ignition coil and found insulation boot faulty. Removed and replaced ignition coil insulator boot, cleared fault codes, road tested vehicle and misfire no longer present.
- Drain and Refilled Engine Oil, Replaced Oil Filter, Checked all fluid levels, Checked Lights, Checked Belts, and Set Tire Pressure.
