Services Performed
  • Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started vehicle and found check engine light on only. Step 2. Performed code scan and found P2173 high air flow/vacuum leak detected, P0507 idle speed higher than expected. Step 3. Using smoke tester, checked intake for vacuum leaks and no leak was found from intake, checked fuel trims with scan tool and found fuel trims around 0%. Step 4. Using scan tool functions, performed throttle relearn and fuel trim reset, road tested vehicle while recording misfire data and fuel trims, no problem was found idle is within desired range and no misfires were present. During road test found vehicle has a heavy clunk on acceleration and vibration at idle due to broken engine mount. Correction – Performed throttle relearn and fuel trim reset. Recommend replacing engine mounts (broken).
  • Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
  • Removed & Replaced Left and Right Side Engine mounts. Road tested vehicle and clunk on acceleration no longer present.
  • Road tested vehicle. During road test was able to duplicate the customers concern. Scanned the vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes. Found powertrain control module codes P2173 (high air flow/vacuum leak detected) and P0507 (idle speed higher than expected). Rechecked for vacuum leaks. No external vacuum leaks found. Using data stream monitored engine speed. Verified the desired speed and the actual speed do not match. Blocked throttle opening. The engine did not stall indicating there is an internal vacuum leak. Upon further inspection found the positive crankcase ventilation valve is faulty. Recommend replacement of valve and retest.
  • POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION VALVE – Remove & Replace
