- Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started vehicle and verified check engine light is on, vehicle runs rough and is smoking from tail pipe due to burning oil. Step 2. Inspected under hood and found engine oil below minimum level, crankcase ventilation valve appears to have been replaced. Step 3. Performed code scan and found P0300 multiple misfires detected P0302 misfire cylinder 2, P0304 misfire cylinder 4. Step 4. Removed spark plugs and found cylinder 2 spark plug end broken and missing. Step 5. Using bore scope inspected for broken piece of spark plug in cylinder 2 and found hole top of piston causing heavy oil smoke and misfire. Correction – Recommend replacing the engine. Customer declined repairs at this time.
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
