- Continued from above – He believes the A/C compressor may be seized. Check and advise. Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started vehicle and verified belt is making a loud screeching noise. Checked air conditioning operation, air conditioning operating normally at this time and is not the cause for belt concern. Step 2. Inspected drive belt and found belt coming off crank pulley, pulley is coming apart and is slipping making a loud screech noise. Step 3. Removed and inspected belt, found belt is damaged from misalignment. Checked compressor pulley and found compressor is not seized. Correction – Recommend replacing harmonic balancer with belt.
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
- Removed and replaced crank shaft damper with drive belt, started and road tested vehicle, noise no longer present.
- Removed and replaced right rear brake hose, removed brake fluid from fluid reserviour. Topped off reserviour with new DOT 4 brake fluid. Pressurized the brake fluid system and performed brake fluid exchange.
