- Diagnostic Steps; Step 1. Started the vehicle and verified the check engine light is on. Step 2. Scanned vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes. Found powertrain control module code P0456 (Evaporative emission control system very small leak detected), P1603 (Engine stall history), P1604 (Startability fault), and P1605 (Rough Idling) Step 3. The vehicle is currently idling normally. Step 4. Checked purge control solenoid operation. Solenoid is operating as designed. Step 5. Pressure evaporative emission system for leaks using a low pressure diagnostic smoke machine. Found there are no external leaks present. Step 6. Upon further inspection found the evaporative emission leak detection pump (part of the evaporative emission control system canister) has an internal fault. Correction – Recommend replacement of canister assembly and retest.
- Performed a visual Inspection and prepared an estimate for parts and labor.
